Hi My name is Hydie and I have been heavy all my life and have tried many weight loss programs suceeded and fail as we all know. I have done all my preop stuff and am now fighting with the Insurance Company seeing how they changed are plan and won't cover the surgery. I have emailed the Ct insurance Commisioner and hopefully she will help. I am very nervous about this surgery I don't want to have any complications and or die. I see Dr Barba he is very nice. I need a little encouragement so if anybidy could give me any I would appreciate it. Thank you Hydie L.

Welcome to the board Hydie. You will find lots of encouragement and support here. I'm so sorry you have to fight with the insurance company like your having to. I've heard it's getting harder and harder to get this surgery approved. Keep your chin up and keep on fighting. I'm sure you'll get a date soon. Maggie

Hi Hydie- I read your profile- too bad Dr. Barba's office couldn't have been a little more competent about things. You need to talk to your human resources dept at your employers, and ask them to purchase the rider for gastric bypass surgery for their group coverage or investigate if your employer has any other insurance they offer. Is it possible for you to change employers and find one who offers better benefits? It may be what you have to do to get coverage.

Actually the office was competent however the program needed to be followed and we couldn't stop the insurance company from changing her policy. We couldn't submit information that we didn't have. I feel for you Hydie and we have dealt with the CT insurance person and we HAVE gotten denials overturned...keep your chin up! Jessica

Hi Hydie, Keep the faith girl. Insurance company's try to wear you down so you just give up. This surgery is like a new lease on life and is worth the trouble to get it done. Good Luck, Julio
