Support Group Meeting Mon. Night
Hi, All!
This coming Mon. night, Sept. 12th, is the 2nd Mon. of the month, so the support group meeting at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown is for both pre- and post-ops (along with supportive friends or family members). It'll be general discussion and questions about topics of interest for both pre- and post-ops. The meeting is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and, although most attendees are patients of Dr. Aranow, anyone is welcome.
After the meeting, a group of us (both pre- and post-ops) will be going out to dinner. If you're going to be at the meeting, please consider joining us afterward. Even if you would rather eat before the meeting (or are only having liquids), come with us. Going out isn't about the food; it's about the additional support and friendship. The restaurants we go to are very accomodating and don't mind if someone just has a beverage (even jus****er). If you can sit there not eating while watching us, we certainly don't mind if you don't eat. As a pre-op, I found it helpful and reassuring to go out with post-ops. Seeing what post-ops ordered and how much they ate let me see that life as a post-op can be "normal".
Comments made by some of the people who've been to dinner have confirmed that they share my opinions about dinner being an extension of the support group meeting, but nothing said that as clearly to me as the action of one woman earlier this week. She had another appointment and wasn't able to attend the support group meeting, but walked into the hospital lobby as we were walking out after the meeting so that she could find out where we were going for dinner and could join us.
If you need directions, please e-mail me.
So who's going to be there Mon. night? And who's going out after?
Have a good weekend!
Debby
I am planning on coming and would love to join you for a little while at dinner afterwards- I just had my first appointment with Dr. Aranow (he is a nice as most people say...I like him, I guess he can play with my guts)
I am doing South Beach Phase One- so I'll be the one ordering a salad and a slab of fish or something- actually my two years of culinary arts highs school are paying off- I made myself grilled portabello mushroom caps with tomatos and cheese for lunch with boston lettuce and balsamic dressing as a side dish. Not a bad diet I guess! Se you Monday evening-
