OMG I GOT A DATE!!!!!!!!
Hi, Lisa!
I think what isn't normal is if someone isn't even the slightest bit nervous or scared before having major life-altering surgery. You are normal, especially since you weren't expecting to have a date for a while and now suddenly it's so soon.
Like mine was, your surgery is on a Mon. when there's a support group meeting that night, so those of us who manage to get to the hospital early enough can stop up to see you before the meeting. And if you're anything like me, you'll only have a vague recollection of having the visitors, but it's still a nice feeling knowing that those people, most of whom had only met me a few times, cared enough to make that effort. Months later, they're all friends of mine.
Speaking of visiting you, in order to get your room number, I'll need your last name. I thought I knew it, but it isn't the name you mentioned in your other post about a new user name, so please e-mail me with your actual last name so that I'll be able to find you on the 12th without disturbing every patient in every room on the 4th floor.
I just thought of something... Since you got a date that's so close, will you be able to attend one of the meetings run by the 4th floor nurses that explains step by step what you should expect while in the hospital? The meetings are usually held twice a month, on Wednesdays, but I don't know if there's one scheduled for this Wed., the 7th. Everyone I know who's been to that meeting found it very helpful. If you call Dr. A.'s office, they can give you the phone number to call to find out about it.
Good luck on the 12th,
Debby
