Anyone have Dr Barba??????????????

If anyone has had Dr Barba, can you please tell me after you see the nutritionist, how long does it take before you get an appt with the doctor, and then a surgery date after that. I have all my pre-op appts done, (pulmonary, ultrasound, psych evaul. etc etc,) But the Judy called me to book an appt and the 1st one available is Sept 20th - I was discouraged I had to wait so long since everything else is done. She assured me it goes quickly after that. Can anyone give me any guestimates??? Also I would love to know how the nutritionist went and what do you have to do after that. Just see the doctor and have a pre-op physical???? Can anyone help to this anxious girls mind at ease??? Thanks so much !!!!

Hi Bree, I went to the May Session with Dr. Barba and got my first nutrition consult in July and then they have you do a 2 hour session with your support partner 1 month later(mine was Aug 8th). Thats where I am at right now, just waiting for the call from Dr. Barba's office. Time does fly by though, I cant beleive its going to be Sept next week!!!! Can you make it to the support meeting this Tuesday night? I think it will be very helpful, Im excited to go!! Hope this helped~ Bethany awaiting surgery with Dr. Barba

I can answer that because it will be me calling you for an appointment. Is this your 1st or 2nd nut. appt? If its your 2nd then it will move quickly (like sept) but if its your 1st then it depends on when your 2nd nut. appt. is. Did that make any sense??? Jessica

Hi Jessica, Sorry I didnt respond sooner, I have been all tied up with a sick 2 yr old. This would be my 1st nutrition appt. Judy called me like 2 wks ago and said she was booking into October. I was really down since I have everything else done already. I told her if she ever had any cancellations to please let me know. She asked if I would need any specific times. I said no, anytime is good for me. She called me back 10 mins later and said I could come in Sept 20th. So thats where I stand now. But with having to back in 30 days and then to book an appt w/ Dr Barba, and then getting a surgery date was just discouraging. During the informational meeting, someone asked the question of if they get all the things done how long does it take to see him, and his response was if you have all your appts done, I will see you in 2 wks. So I just thought it would go faster. How long does it usually take to get your consult with Dr Barba after your 2nd nutrtionist appt??? and then how long does it take to get your surgery date usually??? Any thought would be helpful. Since you dont have a profile, I cant read up on you. So you had the RNY done? When and how much have you lost? Thanks again, Bree

Hi Bree... I've been swamped in the office that's why its taken me so long to get back to you! Patty is right, Dr. Barba is "more caught up" now because of Dr. Giovanni. Dr. Giovannni is also seeing new patients and what happens is when I get the paperwork both docs and I sit down and decide who gets who (but when I make the appt. if a patient feels more comfortable with one doc over another its not a probelm at all to switch docs). I then call and make you the appointment (usually about 2 weeks in advance - a little less for dr giovanni). If there are no problems with any of the doctors reports, I will give you a surgery and endoscopy date before you leave the office. I do have a profile but because I work here now, I've made it so that it can't be seen... Jessica [email protected]

bree, all i can do is tell you how it's been for me. my last nutritionist's appointment with julie was on june 6th, and my appointment to see dr barba is thursday, sept 1st. that's quite a long time to wait, i thought, but maybe he's more caught up now, he has another surgeon working with him. i was told at a support meeting that on the day of my consult with dr barba, i will receive my surgery date. good luck patty
