Do certain foods make you want to ...
Hello,
Lately, I've been having problems with certain food. Which I knew would happen prior to having the surgery but the problems started recently. As I progressed with the different stages of my diet I never had an issue with eggs, milk or bread. Now they make me want to
There are other food items that make me feel like that as well but those I didn't have after the surgery so I don't know if it's because of the surgery.
Sorry for rambling!!
Like I said .. I was ok with these foods for about a month after my surgery. Now they make me sick.
Is this normal???
Thanks for your help.

Yup. Completely normal! Don't worry. It may get better with time, or it may not (helpful, aren't I?)
What you can do is continue to try the foods that bother you in very limited quantity once every 3 or 4 weeks and see how it goes.
Wait until you eat something for breakfast and it's fine and then you eat the same thing for lunch and you want to hurl. That's GREAT fun! LOL.
But, seriously, not to worry. Your pouch has a mind of it's own sometimes.
Hang in there.

Normal??? What is normal??
Last week I had dinner out with my family and split a hamburger with Melissa. She was fine, I wished I would have died!
On Sunday, when I was at a fair, I had chicken on a stick. WHat could be better, right??? THe nursing staff watched me for half an hour and even placed cold packs onm y neck thinking I was having heat stroke. Little did they ever know!
The dryer it is, the worse it feels. BBQ sauce, here we go!

Oh yeah!
One day I will eat Chinese Chicken & Broccoli (no chicken) and be great. Another day the room will spin and I'll be
for what feels like hours.
Once in a while I'll have ice cream (soft serve) and I'm fine, other times, I'll have pains and wish someone would put me out of my misery. You're probably thinking, "hmmm, once I get sick, I'll never try THAT again". Not me, I think,
maybe I'll try it again in a few weeks
. That's just human nature, I guess.
Take Care of Your Pouch!!!

Jen,
Everything you're saying is soooo normal for us WLS folks. I had the worst time with chicken forever! Now it seems to be fine, but every once in a while, I feel like I'm gonna die!!! I can so relate to Peter's post! The worst thing that happened was when I ate sugar free jelly beans and I thought I was going to have to go to the ER cuz the gas was so painful! And as you get further and further out, it's harder and harder to
, which usually makes ya feel better...it just gives ya the "stuck" feeling, instead which is AWFUL!
Oh, the things we go through....but we are still learning every day, aren't we???
Good luck.

Hiya...
Long term post-op here...almost 4 years (11/16/01)...and there are still foods that make me hurl...chicken and I are NOT on friendly terms. Oh no, no, no...the sight of chicken makes me nauseated now...just knowing what it will do to me. There were some foods in the beginning that I could not tolerate (eggs)...that now, I have no trouble with. I was also slightly lactose intolerant early post op (milk would make me dump) but as time went on, that got better too. The only thing that has not changed is chicken...and that's fine, because I like steak better anyway.
So, there's my $.02 -- good luck and yup...you are completely normal, for someone who has had their gizzards re-arranged by a surgeon...LOL

Hey there Jen,
Your not alone sweetie, we have all been there. I remember my first time trying a hamburger and boy did I barf until my insides felt like they were coming out.
It takes time for your new tummy to get use to certain foods. There will be some though they you may never be able to eat again, but thats ok. There are so many other options out there.
Just take your time, try different things and be very careful. I can not tolerate any beef anymore, but chicken I still love and still can eat. No more bread in my life anymore either, but now I eat crackers. So believe me you will find your way through all of this.
If you ever need to talk don't hesitate to contact me. You take care and stay positive.
We are all here for you and will always be here for you.
Hugs
