port question....

Has anyone had (or knows someone that had) to have their port taken out and replaced with a smaller one because it was too large and somewhat sticking out of them due to their weightloss? Mine is starting to stick out and when I saw my dr. he explained that it might continue to stick out as my weight loss continues. He further explained that there is a smaller port that they can put in but I wasn't smart enough to ask him what that involves. thanks...

It is more common as you lose the weight...although sometimes they don't actually replace the port, they just move it. Jessica

Hey, Michelle! I've been finding my port's location more and more annoying lately and I'm meeting with Tim next Thursday to talk about getting it moved and/or changed. He and Danielle said it's a procedure done outpatient, takes about 20 minutes under local anesthesia. Would you like me to give you more details when I get them next week? Bette
