One more thing to do!

Good afternoon! I had my Upper GI this morning. The radiologist said I had a small hiatal hernia...I just looked it up on the Internet. Doesn't sound too bad. Dr. A thought I did by my symptoms...GO Dr. A! So we will see what he says but I understand he will fix it while doing the surgery. I just have to meet with the nutritionist on the 22nd and then whatever that brings - plus losing 20 pounds. Although I think I have lost some - not sure how much. I will not get on a scale and get my hopes up or crashed as I know they only read theirs and why do that to myself! Anyone want to let me know what she does at the visit so I can be prepared? I have been filling out my food log daily. She had to cancel my last appt and I had started it 2 weeks before I saw her. I made copies and have continued it. It is a great tool! And I have learned a lot from just doing that. Thanks for listening...I continue to learn more and more by coming here and attending the support groups! Nancy J*

Hey Nancy, Congrats on getting this far. Is this your first appt with Elina. If this is your second appt, she will go over the first couple of months after surgery and your diet. She will weigh you to see if you have lost the needed weight. If you have then she will notify Dr. A and Lois will start your paperwork to get to the insurance company. Hi Nancy, I just saw Elina on Tuesday! The appt included her checking my food list, asking me how my weight loss was doing (I lost all but 2 lbs!), asked me about my eating habits, went over the food lists and ways to eat each step of the way after surgery, etc. She cleared me after one appt, and I don't have to return to her until after surgery. She's there if I need to call for questions, etc. Just be honest with her. She's very easy to speak with and the appt was a breeze. We're almost at the same point! I'm all done with all of my pre-op requirements and Dr A is waiting on my GI's report and then I can schedule! I can't have my surgery until Oct, though...Hubby cannot get any time off to help w/ recovery and childcare until then..oh well...all good things come to those that wait! Good luck..keep doing those food lists and drinking lots of water! paula

Hi Paula..long time no-talk-to! Thanks for the insight on the appointment with Elina. I hope I can get cleared in one appt also! Congrats on your WL ...awesome job! I was surprised the radiologist told me anything yesterday - they usually don't say a word. I am not sure when I can have mine...I have a son going back to college which requires a trip over Labor Day weekend..work and new projects being given to me over the next month...and I am going to Las Vegas in November, so I have to really think this out. I will talk to the office or Dr. A after I get everything completed. Have a great weekend! Nancy
