Biting the bullet...
OK boys & girls-
I'm finally biting the bullet and taking that next step in my journey... Plastic Surgery. EEEK! I can't believe I even said that out loud.
I'm calling it plastic surgery, you may note, because for me- it's purely personal preference- there is no medical need -as in Reconstructive Surgery. But, darn it, why do I feel guilty about that? I've waited 3 years- and I'm still not happy. I feel like I am blessed with the life I have, but I just don't feel good about myself in this area especially.
So, on September 21, 2005, I will have breast augmentation surgery w/Dr. Charles Castiglione from Hartford Hosptial. This continues to be one large (ahem- well, NOT so large!) area of difficulty with my self esteem and personal body image. I feel that by taking this step I will feel much better about myself.
Can somebody tell me I'm not crazy? (please??) I'm kind of scared to have surgery again- and for something like this that isn't life or death...so I'm nervous. Know what I mean?
Thanks for listening.

From a D to an empty B (Ok, OK, an A) in less than 2 years- and in 7 weeks, hopefully back to a C!
Hi Lisa!
I think it is a wonderful decision for you! Congrats! You've come this far, why not?? You are certainly not crazy - and I know you will do terrific with the surgery.
Honestly, once I'm 3 years out, I hope to have the money for a little "nip here and tuck there." I am completely open to it, so I can totally see where you are coming from.
Good luck - and I'm sure you will do GREAT!
Love,
Tammy
Hi Lisa,
You are most certainly not crazy at all! You are a young, vibrant women who has taken control of her life. You deserve this surgery and self-esteem is SO SO important! I personally have no desire for a breast lift(although they are in need!) but I really want something done with my face and neck area. Good luck to you and know that we will all be rooting for you!
Sandy
Hi Lisa,
I think it is well deserved!! You've worked so hard at using your tool, why not feel better about the one area you are not satisfied with?! My sister-in-law did the same thing and is so happy with her looks now. She was sorry it took so long to make up her mind to have it done.
I know you will be happy with your decision. Keep us informed as to how you do. You will be in my thoughts and prayers on 9/21.
HUGS,
Nancy K
Good luck with your upcoming plastic surgery. You picked out an awsome doctor for the surgery. He did my daughters surgery for cleft pallet and you can't even tell it was ever there. Besides doing great work he has nice bedside manner. He really cares about his patients. And your not crazy for being scared or wanting it. Every surgery is scary and you deserve to be happy with all the work you had to do to get where you are.

Kathy,
If your thinking about using this doctor just to let you know he is already scheduling into next year just for a consult. He has a profile under harthosp.org . I know from personal experience that he is very good at his work and he does amazing work with all types of reconstructive surgeries and even invented a few new procedures. He operated on my daughter when she was 9 months old and you can't even see a scar. I know I am using him for my surgery next year when I have it.
