Hi, Annette! Different doctors have different opinions about what should be eaten and when. The best thing is to follow the written info. that you should have been given by your program's nutritionist. But in general, at 5 days out from surgery, most of us were on liquids only, although I have heard that some people used a very small amount of unsweetened applesauce during the liquid stage to mix with crushed pills in order to be able to swallow their meds. Personally, I mixed my crushed pills with Hood Carb Countdown chocolate milk. That way I was getting some protein and fluid in along with my pills, neither of which is supplied by applesauce. And it was hard enough to get all my protein and fluids in during those early days without having anything that didn't fit into one of those 2 categories. Debby

Morning Annette, You can get unsweetened applesauce at just about any store. I know the group we had our surgery done suggest we mix our medication with it to get it down. When I had my surgery they had me on these capsuls that you would open up and mix with the applesauce. They were "VILE"!!!!!! YUKKK! On my 2 month post op they switched me to ursol, a tablet that I crush and mix with a tablespoon of yougert, MUCH BETTER!! Glad to see you back on and remember, take it slow and easy. Be well, Julio

Hi Bethany, I had RNY Lap and drove myself to my 1 week post op appointment. Felt great. If your having an open RNY, would guess its going to take a little while longer to get back into the swing of things. Take care and good luck on your weight loss journey. Julio
