Northeast Connecticut friends
Hello Mellie-Moe,
Welcome! I am from Northeast CT and in the process of having WLS. I started the journey with one surgeon in New Haven but got the willy nilly's with his office and program. After touching base with some people on the CT board and discussing it with my best friend @ "the office", I decided to look around. I am happy to say I have an appointment w/ Dr.R from Hartford this month. I have found people on this board more than willing to help and share their experiences - the good....the bad.....and the ugly of WLS. Hope you have the same great experience I have had so far. Will keep you posted as things progress. Feel free to PM any time!!

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for responding.
I just figured out today, February 10th, that the blog and the discussion are two different things. Thus, I found your reply to my post.
I just checked out your profile and photos...wow... a walking miracle.
I'm back and forth between lap band and bypass. I am leaning toward bypass because I have been a chubbie checker as a kid, and an obese adult, and now weigh 268 pounds.
What is your take? How did you chose?
Thanks for your time.
Melanie

Thanks! I have always been over weight and the reason why most diets failed with me is because I would give up. I knew that is what would have happened if I went with the band. I also have a fear of needles so I also knew I wouldn't have gon in for fills. I felt there were too many risks after the fact with a band than bypass. I have had two strictures but those are easily taken care of. An upper endoscopy is all it takes. I now have low blood pressure and have passed out twice from it. I still would do it all over again. The choice you make as far as which surgery to have is a personal choice that only you can make. You can get insite and advice from others but in the end it's something that only you can decide which is best for you. Good luck in the process.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Hi Joanne,
I just found your reply to my post.
I didn't realize that the post and the blog were two different things.
You look healthy and beautiful.
How did you chose between lap band and the bypass? I keep going back and forth.
Thanks for replying.
