THANKS for your Prayers
Hi Everyone!
As I said in a previous post...
My friend (and post op sister) had cancer surgery today.
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=T992231888
short and sweet...to the point...
Jaime's surgery went well!
Now for some details...
per my conversation with Jaime's mom Lynn today.
The surgery took 6 hrs (as expected).
All went well.
The support Jaime (and her family) got at the hospital was awesome...they treated her like royalty.
Jaime was (of course) a basketcase.
They let her take a photo of her son Devin into the OR! (only Jaime could talk a surgeon into letting her take a non-sterile object into the OR)
They focused primarily on the Right side of her neck...as with the last surgery...and cleaned it well. The left side had nothing.
The ultrasound lady who mapped Jaime's neck was in the OR as well guiding them the entire way.
They cut her old scars and tried to even clean that up for her to make her neck look better this time.
She is on a breathing tube (or was at least while in recovery) and has a pain pump in her neck. (ouch)
She has NO nerve damage to her face, and NO vocal chord damage.
Well... that's it for the time being.
We can all rest assured that our prayers worked to help our Jaime get through her day.
I will update you as I get any new info.
Please continue to keep her in your continued prayers.
Thanks!

Towanda,
Thank You so much for the update, My God give Jamie strength to overcome all the obsicale that have come her way and give her the courage to endore. This is so ironic to say the least. I was there at Yale today in the waiting room waiting for my Mom to come out of wls. My dad and I was sitting right near Jamies parents and overheard her talking to each of the family and friends about Jamies surgery. Wow my heart goes out to Jamie as well as her Mom Dad and friends. What a miracle she is to have overcome all that she has been through. Please let her know that I am praying for her and that their are angels looking our for her. Her Mom and Dad are wounderful parents and truley you can see the love they have for Jamie... Again her story touched my heart as well as my dads and I wanted so bad to talk with her MOM... God Bless you and all that support Jamie...

Goodness Goodness Tara!
As I read your reply...chills covered my entire body!
Jaime has been through the mill for the past 7 yrs.
She is a strong woman and hopefully having lost 125 lbs from the WLS helped with the current cancer surgery.
I have your email address and will put you on the list for updates.
It will come from a different email address other than Towanda Strong.
I will pass this story on to Jaime. She will love it.
And I will pass your sentiments along to her parents as well.
I pray your Mom is doing well after her surgery yesterday? Who was her surgeon? Dr. Bell? That was Jaime's.
Day by day...we all recover and journey towards health...together we hold each other up to make that journey a bit easier.
Be well...
Towanda
