Almost done with pre ops, but can't have my surgery until Oct

Well, I'm a bit disappointed, but I'm a believer that things happen for a reason. I'm almost done with all of my pre ops, my last being Alina at Dr Aranow's on Aug 8th and one after that. I was hoping on being able to have a Sept surgery, but my husband (due to the nature of his job) cannot get any time off until the week of Oct 16th. So, I guess it's just more preparing time, more time to lose more weight, excercise more, attend more support groups, etc. I have no one else to get my kids off to school or to watch them afterwards to have the surgery in Sept, plus, my son is starting Kindergarten, and I want him to have a smooth transition into that as well. School here in our town doesn't start until Sept 12th this year and the Kindergarten a week later... Maybe everything does happen for a good reason...it's just a bit of a let down, that's all. As Kim Daniels told me, we've worked with all of these pre ops so hard, that we want the surgery "tomorrow"! Should I wait to call Lois and tell her (we've not talked at all about setting dates) or should I phone her and let her know my situation? I've only had my initial consult with Dr A and have not been in contact with the office otherwise. Do they get approval from ins and then call you with a surgery date, or do they discuss when a good date would be for you? I'm so new to all of this! Thanks, paula

Hi Paula, the way it happened for me was I finished all my appointments, lost the weight that Dr. A wanted me to lose and attended all of the support group meetings that are mandatory before surgery then Lois contacted the Insurance Co in December and a surgery date was set for Jan. 10, 2005. Your approval from the insurance Co is good for I think 6 months so when Lois calls you with a date just tell her your situation and she will schedule you accordingly I'm sure or you can call Lois and give her a heads up either way it's up to you.
