"Bandster" Therapist to Speak in Hamden

Hi, All! One week from tonight, Mon., Aug. 1st, the 1st Mon. of the month, the Middlesex support group meeting is only for pre-ops (nutritional and psych. info.) while the Hamden meeting, as always, is for both pre- and post-ops. Occasionally there are guest speakers at the Hamden meeting. One of them has been Terria Linn, a licensed clinical social worker, whose patients include some of the members of the support group. She herself is a "bandster" and has lost about 200 lbs., so she has insight into situations we face that other professional colleagues of hers may not. She will be speaking to the group again on Mon., Aug. 1st. Her topic will be "How to Integrate Food Back in Our Lives." The Hamden group meets at the Senior Center behind the Miller Library on Dixwell Ave., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. If anyone needs directions, please e-mail me. I forgot to mention that the Hamden support group isn't affiliated with any particular doctor or hospital and that everyone is welcome to attend.

Hi, All! Here's an update to my post above. Terria Linn hasn't just lost over 200 lbs....she's lost over 300 lbs.! Plus, I've been told that she's also going to talk about dealing with changing relationships with spouses. Debby

Hey Debbie, God Willing I hope to be at the August 1st meeting too. It is the same day as my dad's birthday and we are on vacation that week, not sure whats up that night yet. But I hope to be there. I am trying to get my cousin to come to that one since she has had the band and is having a tuff time losing. I also may have a new person interested in the surgery too, my neighbor.
