First let me thank all of you who are praying for you. Your prayers are doing their job. Denise had her surgery reversal on friday. So now she has working plumbing again. The surgery went well, no complications this time. They did it early by 2 weeks, but they had to. She had developed a serious infection from the iliostomy and they had no choice but to reverse her. For those of you that dont know whats going on. My sister had colon cancer and they had to do emergency surgery on her. Our Dr. Duffy from Yale who does the lap surgeries for gastric bypass is the man who did the surgery. Many of you dont know this, but gastric bypass surgery is only a small portion of what these doctors do. Dr. Duffy said that most of the surgery he performs is for people like my sister, who have colon cancer and other types of gastric surgeries that are needed. I guess the point Im trying to make is that once you find a good surgeon hang onto him for dear life and use him for other things besides your gastric bypass surgery. My sister is doing better. She is in a lot of pain still and she is having trouble getting decent care at Yale. The hospital is severely understaffed on the gastric floor. Not enough nurses to go around and its summer time. Nurses on vacation has made it so that your level of care leaves a lot to be desired. She is going to be in there longer than she had hoped, but she just is not a good healer so it takes her longer than most. Shes trying to stay positive. God never gives us more than we can bare and I guess she is learning one of the hardest lessons of her life. What that lesson is Im not sure. A good side to all of this is she has lost a lot of weight. She will not be having gastric bypass surgery like I did of course, and never will. Its not for her she says, but it has brought us closer and helped us to heal our broken relationship. Which is a good thing. She will leave the hospital some time this week. I want to thank all of you again who prayed, and visited and sent cards. You were great, thank you so much for helping her get through a difficult time. You will be blessed for your generosity. Lauren PS, I REALLY need to update this picture. I dont look ANYTHING like this anymore...LOL

So glad to hear she's doing better and will be coming home this week. I'm also glad to hear that you've mended a broken relationship with her. That is wonderful news all around. God is good. Now let's see an updated pic girl. Maggie
