Hi Bethany, I think my surgery was about 2 hours, maybe a bit more. And I had open RNY. Love, Tammy

Surgery itself is less than an hour. Prep and all about 2. It is a little shorter for it to be done open. Peter

Depending upon your surgeon, a LAP RNY can take anywhere from 50 minutes to about 2 hours (that seems to be the upper limit). Given surgeons of equal experience and skill, the LAP RNY will be a shorter operation than an OPEN RNY because there is significant time needed for closing the surgical field in an open procedure.

Hi Bethany, Dr. Bell did my surgery, and he said the surgery itself (LAP RNY) takes about 45 minutes. Then the recovery takes longer. That is basic surgery, no complications. JA
