I want to try getting use to them now before surgery. I am a Melaleuca Marketing Executive and would like to use my own products. Wondering if anyone else belongs to Melaleuca, I am so excited that I can take the vitamins after surgery!!! They are small and vanilla coated, and have frustose compounding so my nutritionist was pleased..... I am getting excited to finally get a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thanks for any advice you can give!!! Bethany

Hey Bethany, Hope you are well and getting excited! Check with your nutritionist and the doc regarding vitamins post surgery. They'll give you a specific list. I know that I had to do chewables because I couldn't swallow pills for a bit afterwards...maybe 3-4 months +/- JA

Hi Bethany. You will need to follow your surgeon's particular guidelines. However, a few general ones: 65+ Grms of Protein a day, how much you get by shakes/bars...well, that varies according to how much real food you can eat. I almost never take a supplement with less than 15 grams of protein. Or else, it doesnt seem worth the calories to me. The further out post op yoiu are the more protein you should be getting from real food and the less supplementing you should need to do. Now, I almost never supplement. (I'm going on three years. THere is no reason for me not to be able to get in the 65 grams a day, unless I'm just neglecting myself- then I'll supplement) Sugar...well, that's a funny one. Some people REALLY can't tolerate it, others can. A good general rule is nothing over 15 grams. I'd stay even lower if possible. You need to keep an eye on the Sugar Alcohol and the fat too. THose can effect you strangely. It's very trial and error with supplements. Post op, things taste very different and you react to them very different too. Regarding the vitamins- you ned to consider wether or not they can be absorbed. You should probably be doing chewables for the first few months at least. AND- you need calcium citrate, not carbonate. Sublingual or liquid B12/Iron works better than pills, generally as well. A ? for you- What's frustose compounding? Fructose? Fructose=sugar. Not someting you need in your vitamin. just a thought. All food for thought, I hope. Good luck. Lisa C
