Does anyone know a website or happen to know from their own experience how many calories and fat grams are acceptable? I am 3 months post op and am just to the point where am getting different foods into my diet. I am drinking chocolate carb countdown every evening and since I started I gained 3 lbs! I'm not sure if this is normal or not. 1 cup is 100 calories and I am pretty sure that nothing else that I eat is that high in calories, besides maybe meat. So I need to know how many calories, fat grams, protein and carbs are acceptable per day. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The calculations that worked for me, particularly early on, was to ignore calories and fat grams, but to monitor carbohydrates (I tried to stay below 25 per day when I was working on losing as quickly as possible) and to maintain as high a protein intake as I could stand (usually that was over 70 grams per day). Because your body doesn't burn all calories equally, getting your energy from protein (provided you are not taking in a lot of carbhohydrates) will actually put your body into ketosis (the process by which you burn your own fat for energy). To get lots of good nutritional information, you might want to go to fitday.com.
