One Year!!!
Well, today is my one year surgiversary. As I look back on this year I am amazed that I survived. It has been the sickest year of my life and I would still do it over again. I have had 3 blockages, one was a Shatzkie's Ring and the other two were strictures. Pulled muscles shortly after going to solid foods from trying to get a grape skin unstuck. Gall bladder surgery that was cause I couldn't take my medicine like I should have thanks to two of the blockages and some family history prolly didn't help either. ER visits left and right for dry heaves due to dehydration cause I just wasn't getting my water in. I went on vacay to Wyoming and Utah and had altitude sickness and I have NEVER had that before. And now I have blood pressure problems (2 ER trips from passing out cause it got too low.) that is causing dizzy spells. On the plus side. My diabetis is in remission, my colesterol is fine, and I am off the blood pressure meds. I can't exactly say that's fine. I have gone from a high of 387 to 189. I weighed 346 a year ago today. I wore a 4 to 5X shirt and I am in a L or XL depending on cut. I grew out of women's sizes and wore a mens 4x jeans. I am in a 16. Life is good and I am still shocked when people call me skinny.

Congratulations!!!! My 1yr surgiversary is next week, the 21st, can you believe a year has past already?? I also had 2 strictures but after my second stricture fix I really haven't had any problems. I had already had my gall bladder out previously so that wasn't an issue for me. I have to laugh at the people who think by having surgery was the easy way out...far from it, right??? I do agree with you though, I would definately do it all again in a heartbeat. My starting weight before my pre-op liquid diet was 325lbs, day of surgery I was 304lbs and now I'm 178lbs, and I'd like to lose another 20-25lbs but if I don't lose another, I couldn't complain! It's so nice to buy clothes is a "real" store and not Lane Bryant, Avenue or Catherines! Keep up the great work...you have so much to be proud of yourself for!!!!

WAY TO GO GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! Even though you've been through SO much, you've also been able to hang tough and get through it.
Now, don't let the honeymoon end and start back at bad food choices like so many of us do. For some reason, (and Kim Daniels holds a group for those that regain because of this) people let their new eating habits go by the wayside and let stress and other reasons lead them to eat bad foods, esp. carbs. It's a big head game and now is the time to focus on why you ate what you did to get you as big as you were, and to figure it out, so you don't repeat those old patterns and return to food, but to turn to something else that's positive...
I wish you all the best, you've done good.... :-)

and I meant to also add...it is absolutely NORMAL that you WILL regain a few pounds...Dr Aranow will show you a chart of how the weight loss goes down, down, down, down, and then slightly goes up at around 18mos...ask him about this at your year check up...

Happy Happy Happy Surgiversary to you Kathy! You've come ALONG way baby! :-)
What an amazing journey you have been on.. The one thing I've admired about you this past year is your "stick to it -ness" You've had a fewer than "normal" snags with issues.. & through it all you've kept a very positive outlook..
OMG amazing weight loss in a year..& some major health issues in check.. that is a blessing!
Hugs,
Mickey

He didn't do the blockages but he did do my gall bladder. He was great for it. I was super nervous for it and he offered me drugs before hand to relax me. Couldn't get those the first time cause I never got an IV until I was in the OR.
