Wow, this is incredible! Enjoy your "moment" - maybe we should enlist you to be our "get off your butts and start moving" inspirational leader!!! Congratulations on this - from someone who manages 2 miles a day on the treadmill and lives to talk about it!    Maureen

CONGRATULATIONS!
That is truely inspirational. Right now I'm working on being able to do my first 5K this spring, my trainer says she'll have me doing a half marathon next fall.

Congratulations on the training.  That is great.  Take it slow and listen to your body.   You have a trainer so that is a good start.   I started working out regularly (elyptical machine and weights) 4 to 5 days a week 6 weeks before my surgery last January.   I read a book, "younger next year",  and I did my best to follow the plan from January to July.   In July, I started running.   Since my cardio was pretty good from working out since January, I was running 3 miles from the start.   Within a couple weeks I was able to make it to 5 - 7 miles a couple days a week.

My goal when I started running was to run the new haven 5k on labor day.    After a few weeks of training, I realized I would be up over 10 miles for a long run, and decided the week before to register and run the 20k.    It took 2:16minutes, but it was awesome.

My last comment to you is Pick a race now, and commit to it.   It will help you train.    Let me know which one you pick.  I am in West Haven, and will be doing some area races in the spring and summer.   Maybe I will run with you :).

I am trying ot run a half marathon every 3-4 months so I stay in shape and in training.   My goal is to run the Disney world Goofy challenge next  January.   (Half marathon on Saturday, full on Sunday).   Keep up the training and keep in touch, I would be more than happy to help.

WOW..that is absolutely GREAT!!!! Good for you!  I've met SO many people that have had this surgery who have taken up running and have started to marathon...Me, I've never like walking, let alone running..plus, I have asthma induced by exercise and can't make it around a track!!!

This is BIG for you..you should feel SO, SO, SO very PROUD of yourself!!

Pat yourself on the back from me!
