feel totally drained
I am 6 days post-op from lap-band and I feel totally drained. I think I have what can be considered muscle fatigue and a general feeling of no energy. I am getting about 25-30g of protien from Isopure drinks. Not drinking much water because I already feel like I am "floating" inside and I figure if I can only have liquids I will concentrate on liquid protien. I am not sure if I'm dehydrated alittle or if I am getting alittle anemia (because I am craving meats). I don't know. Anyone go through this? Thanks.
PS: I have a call into the Dr. office & I am waiting for the return call.
The lack of energy is perfectly normal at this far post op. It does sound like you might need some more water. It's just as important as getting in your protein. It's a difficult balancing act I know. It's good that you called your Dr. as they obviously know what's best for you. Let us know how you make out.
Feel better soon,
Maggie

You're going through the same thing I did postop. I thought I would crave chocolate and junk foods, but I wanted meat so badly that I was ready to eat my dogs! Unfortunately, I had my procedure in December, so every ad on TV was of a glorious honey-baked ham or a golden turkey, and it was killing me!
When you talk to the office, ask if you're ready to be moved to full liquids. When I did, that first mouthful of cream of chicken soup was heaven, and cured the meat cravings!

Immediately after surger for about 1 week I was full of energy well at least as much as walking twice a day for a half block and then all of a sudden it hit me and I didn't have any energy until after two months. My doc asked if I had been a coffee drinker, i wasn't, but since people who gave up coffee they were a little less energetic. But then came the b-12 shots and more water intake and it all came to me. I do still have a lazy mentality but I seem to have more fun and lose more weight being active so that helps. Take it one day at a time....It will all come into place!
Good luck.

T H A N K Y O U!!!!! I talked to the Dr. office and they said I should move to stage 2 liquids. She explained that I have been resuming normal (pre-op) activities but on soooo little calories/protein/carbs/fat/etc. that my body can't do it all thereby making me fatigued. I IMMEDIATELY went to the grocery store and stocked up on yogurt, cream of chicken soup, Atkins shakes etc. As soon as I got home, I didn't even put the grocerys away, I opened a yogurt and had half. I never thought I would be so in love with yogurt--but i am today!!! I think I feel better already. I can't wait to have the soup next. Thanks to everyone who gave me their suggestions. I truly appreciate all the support from this site.
T H A N K Y O U!!!!!
You couldn't be more right on Bette! I had half a can of soup awhile ago & it was SOOOOO GOOOOD! My husband had better watch his step because this soup could replace him!!! It's really funny because I never did like chicken much but I plan on having the other half of soup for dinner!! As I sit here I am drinking an Atkins shake---not bad--certainly a hell of alot better than the Isopure drinks that I have been having for the last week!!!! I really do feel better!!! It's amazing how your body responds when you eat to fuel it instead of clogging it! Thanks again!!
I know what you mean. It wasn't bad in the beginning but a few days ago it was almost intolerable. I was actually contemplating calling the office last Friday to see if I could go to stage 2 because it just was getting old...anyway, onwards and upwards (& hopefully the scale goes downwards) to stage 2!
