GBS over 2 years
Hi everyone!!!!
This is a question for people who have been out for 2 years and over. We hear mostly from people who are just out about the way they feel and how/what they can eat.
I would like to know how are you feel now? What is you weight loss like now? What can/can't you eat? How much can you eat? Have you gain any weight back? Have you lost any weight?
I have been going up and down with 7lbs for the last 5 months and it scares me
. I know I am doing the right things butyou know how your head works! I just wanted to get some "expert" advice for the "old timers"!
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carmen

Hi Carmen!
I am almost 3 yrs post-op (10/21/02).
Let's see how do I feel now? Like a different person. I get tired now but its not because I'm fat and winded, its because I work a full time and part time job (something that was impossible pre surgery). My knees don't hurt, I can sit on the floor and get up by myself, it doesn't hurt to breathe and walk at the same time.
What is my weight loss like? I platued from year one to year two. I was stuck at roughly 155-160 lbs and was wearing a size 8-10. I was happy there. Then this past January I had emergency gallbladder surgery and that seemed to jumpstart my weight loss again because since Feb. I've been hanging out at roughly 134-138 lbs. That makes me happy because I still want to lose another 10lbs (I'm only 5'0" tall and small boned)
What can/can't I eat. I can eat just about anything except high fat/sugar foods. Everything else is in small amounts. I still eat about 3/4 cup food at anytime.
I have not gained any weight back and I hope that I don't. I will be very vigilent so that I don't have that bounceback weight.
I hope that answers all your questions and if you have more, please feel free to ask.
Jessica

Hi Carmen,
Great post. I will be one yr. out on 7/21 and have been struggling, so it's nice to see that I'm not alone (or a failure as I keep telling myself I am). Your post makes me realize I'm "normal"...just like any other gastric bypass patient.
I am one yr out and down between 77-79 lobs depending on when I weigh myself. My weight loss was never rapid, like a lot of other folks, but at least it's coming off....something I couldn't accomplish w/out surgery.
Best wishes to you...you've done so well. We ALL need to use these boards and our support groups to stay on track.

Hi Carmen- going on three years here...
I feel great. Couldn't be any better, thanks for asking! LOL.
I have lost over 170 lbs since surgery. My lowest weight was 127, but I was too small there, and it was mainly induced by stress. My comfortbale weight is between 135 and 139, which is where I seem to stay pretty easily.
I can eat...well, quite a bit sometimes. And other times, almost nothing. I can eat 3/4 of a 6 inch subway, sometimes the whole thing. Two or three pieces of pizza (small pieces) It seems like a volume of somewhere around 6 to 8 ounces is possible, depending. However, if I eat like I should and eat dense protein first, my capacity is strictly limited. I still dump from sugar or too much fat, though not quite as easily as I used to.
My biggest challenge is getting in the gym and doing it regularly...
I don't really have any advice, per se- except to stick to the very basice and never forget to eat like a WLS'er. When I do, that's when my weight goes up.
Good luck to you.
Best,
Lisa C
