I am now 2 months post-op and have been diagnosed with Colitis. I was told it had nothing to do with my LAP RNY but I disagree. The pain is awful and I feel so terrible. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this? I go for yet another C.A.T scan tomorrow. It's been 3 days since I have had a meal yet I am still so sick. I can't eat and can't really get down enough liquids. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Christine

I can't offer you any advice Christine, but just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon. I have not ever personally heard of the two being related. I hope they get it taken care of soon so that you will start to feel like your own self again. Maggie

Christine, I am preparing for the lap-band surgery and reading the message boards. I feel for you - I have total recall of the condition and the pain it caused me. Last year I had an attack of colitis and landed in the hosp. for 5 days. I could eat NOTHING drink NOTHING for about 3 days and lived on IV pain meds. Not eating actually helped the condition, as it is caused by the irritation of foods we eat. My first CAT scan showed the infection; my 2nd CAT scan was completely normal. I had to stay on oral antibiotics for approx. 2 weeks. It does go away and because you had the surgery and are hardly eating, it should NEVER recur. Try not to worry about not eating. It is actually better and hastens the healing process. It does require plenty of bed rest also. However, try to take short walks if even to the bathroom because not moving at all causes other post-op problems. Remember it will get better and you will start to feel better in a day or two from now. You are in my prayers. May God remove all fear and give you a peace and a sense of joy about your journey toward a better life. Bernice P.S. Do I know you? Did you work at HealthNet??
