In need of your kind words

I am scheduled to have my revision (band to RNY) on 1/5/09.  After all these years of thinking about a revision, then finally making the decision to have it and trouble with my insurance, now I am almost there. I am extremely nervous about this procedure.  I have lost some weight due to the liquid diet and attended to all my pre op appointments.  I can't help to feel very emotional with this big step.  I would like to only concentrate in the happy outcome of this surgery but can't help to wonder what if something goes wrong with the surgery, or what if once again, I don't loose the desired weight? I am not having this new surgery due to vanity, I really need to be healthy and this is my only way out.
I am sorry to sound pessimistic.  I am open to words of encouragement , anything that you can tell me as well as your prayers will be greatly appreciated.
thank you friends

HI,
It is only natural to be nervous before any type of surgery. But you have to remember why you are doing this. Go into surgery with a positive attitude and you will be fine. I too have Dr. Barba and I think he is great. He did my RNY in 2005 and he just did my Tummy Tuck in Nov.  I am fine. Both my surgeries went great. Most important is to listen to your Doctor. You have to follow his directions. He doesn't tell you directions just for the fun of it. I have heard some people that have had problems after surgery, blame the doctor ,and come to find out they have done something they weren't supposed to do. I follow instructions to a "T" even if they don't make sense to me. My tummy tuck went so well, I didn't need any pain meds at all. I had a little discomfort, but no pain.
You are in good hands. Dr. Barba is my knight in shining armor. He has helped me to have a healthier life than what I was before. You will be fine. Think positive. Want this more than anything! Good Luck!!
Hugs

I had a scar revision done and the plastic surgeon that did it said if you aren't nervous something is wrong. Just try to relax and remember that if you have a positive attitude things will work.

It would be strange if you WEREN'T nervous!  So, I won't tell you not to worry- just keep in mind that it's part of the process and it's natural.  I'm sure you know what's best for you and you said yourself that it's your only way out.

The doors have opened for you- even ones that were initially locked- you have to trust that's for a good reason.  I'm sure it's so you can live a long and happy life as a healthy person in the future.

Best wishes for your success as you continue your journey,

Best,

Lisa C
