I started my two week pre-op diet yesterday and it wasn't too bad. But all I can think about is what am I going to eat next. So I have a question .. what can I do to make my meals interesting? I know some of you have tried special sauces and was wondering if you're willing to share your recipes. Thanks, Jen

What type of a diet are you on Jen? What restrictions do you have? Don't forget that sugar free jello and ice pops are free foods and are great for filling you up inbetween meals. Maggie

I'm on the 1000 calories a day diet. Don't really have restrictions other than no mayo, oil, butter or anything fatty.

Hi Jen! I am on the 2 week pre-op diet for the lap band and I have found a fat free/sugar free choc. pudding which is made by Jell-o. My nutritionist told me that it was OK to have during this time too. I haven't tried it yet but I am going to make pudding pops out of them. I also have been having weigh****chers frozen dinners (OK too if the calories are under 300). I am not one who drinks alot of juices, I usually drink water, but I have started with the crystal light lemonade and iced tea as a way to "get a taste" in my mouth. If I come up with any other ideas I'll pass them along. When is your date? Mine is July 5. Good luck to you!

Hi Michelle! My surgery date is also July 5. When did you start your diet. I started on Saturday but I'm not sure that was the right day to start. FYI .. I love the Crystal light drinks. Especially the peach tea ones. Jen

HI Jen! I started my 1000 cal diet on Tuesday June 21st. I have my pre-op meeting with Dr. Ehrlich tomorrow (Thursday the 23). I am sooo excited. I read your profile and I too get nervous about having the lap-band but I just remind myself how much more nervous a heart attack or a stroke makes me. I also try to imagine being "thin" and actually living a fun, active life with my husband and son--something my weight has always held me back from. I know that my biggest regret in life would be dying as a fat lady. I do not want that. So I will face whatever challenges this band has and I will learn to eat only enough to nourish my body. Anyway, it seems like we will be "surgery buddies" in St. Vincents hospital on July 5th! That's cool! Well heres to us as we journey to becoming healthy (and dare I say-hot) women! Keep your chin up and take care of yourself.
