Bra issues after Open RNY

Good Morning All! I had the open RNY in April and while I am very happy about the results (66 lbs so far!!) one thing that is very annoying is the bra issue. My scar is pretty long and begins just where my bra lands. Every day my still heavy breasts (48DD down from 52DD, but still!) drag and scrape against the healing incision. It hurts! At this point I get about 1 hour out of the bandage that I am still forced to use before my bra digs around and somehow finds the same sore spot. A small issue compared to those of others, I know. But does anyone know ... A. how long it I can expect this to last? B. any other techniques for handling my bra scraping against the sore? Thanks!

Hi! What about sport bra? Have you try this? I used to wear sport bra for three months because it is more comfortable for me to wear it. Kathy K

Hi Christine, I could only imagine you definitely need the support with 48DD. Have you tried some fabric or folded gauze over the bandage. That way the bra would rub against something other than the bandage. Keep up the good work and God Bless! Kelly

OH MY GOSH!!! I can so relate! My problem is not only that my regular scar hits right at that spot, but now I have an adscess right there too and I truely can't wear a bra. I tried and just about screamed. I'm a 48DDD so I do understand!!! I wish I had answers for you, but I'm going to stay posted to see any ideas. Take good care Heather

Oh, and now my boobs stick to the adhesive tape that holds my dressings for the abscess! Heck of a thing! Heather

Hi Christine, I can DEFINATELY relate with the scar. Mine is still very tender after having surgery in April..I've switched over to a really good & supportive sports bra that has seemed to help. I've also found a few bras that are underwire but are "soft" as I definately need a LIFT! LOL...where it does tend to still land on the scar tissue it isn't as sore. I also used a piece of gauze to act as a cushion and that seems to help also. The stuff we have to go through as girls huh? I also have gone down in size so for me it seems that my bras fit better & don't scrape as badly as it did when I first had the surgery. Hope this helps, Mickey
