Overwhelmed with Revision
Dr Aranow only does an open surgery when you get your surgery and it isn't that bad...
I'd say, go for the open incision, have a little more healing time, but let the surgeon be able to do and see what he has to do in there and not have to re-open you back up later down the road because he missed something or was not able to reach something via lap.
Dr Aranow told me one time that when someone gets an RNY via lapscope, they get an RNY, but with a few steps missed that an open does...
Have you thought about a legal suit against the original surgeon for all of this mess and pain and suffering??? I would..this guy should be stopped and not be able to do this to people
Hang in there.

It's good to hear from you stranger!
Dr R is concerned more about excessive scar tissue that the past surgery has caused (mess in April) So thinking he wants to keep it LAP to avoid more damage. He says he can clean up alot Lap.. still on the fence with it.
The pain with open RNY is doable.. I've been opened twice now & it's more muscle soreness than anything.
I really want a full comprehensive medical report from Dr. R & what he had to do.. his finding.. long term effects.. etc.. etc... then see what options are with a suit. If anything I paid out of pocket for my original RNY he should be accountable since he didn't do it correctly.
Along with all of the out of pocket.. co pays.. etc.. Also he called what he did to me a in April a "revision" on the medical report..but he didn't do one.
I really just want to get all of this garbage behind me... sigh...

Mickey
Mickey,
I don't post much (and have been away from the boards for a LONG time) but I have been reading your posts about the horrors you have gone through for what seems like forever now. I just want to say that I hope all goes well for you. Whatever Dr. R. needs to do to "fix" you, I'm sure he will do a wonderful job. I have relatives in the medical profession who speak so highly of him and the work he has done cleaning up other Dr's messes.
I (like many others, I'm sure) will continue to look for your posts to see how you are progressing, so please keep us updated. My thoughts and prayers will be with you during the next leg of your journey in January. Best of luck to you for a fully successful surgery and speedy and painless recovery.
Regards,
Laurie
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness & kind words. Just about a week away until my new "re-birthday"... LOL...It's too bad I can't revision my wrinkles.. & my baggy butt..
The more I hear about Dr. R from others who have gone through revisions or thier first WLS the more confidence I have that he can fix me. Still very scared this time around as it's a major overhaul. Dr. R is a realist & doesn't sugar coat anything.. & where I know where he believes he can take my recovery & "do over" I'm still VERY overwhelmed with it.
This week I'm trying to get back to basics of the original WLS... getting rid of things I can't have during phase 1 of WLS.. getting liquids.. protein shake stuff.. fun.. fun.. fun... Inever thought I'd be going through all this again... (Sigh) :(
He's cleaned up quite a few "messes" as of late & the more horror stories I hear... the more thankful I am that he cares and wants to see patients be well and is willing to take on huge challenges like mine.. he didn't have to, & I'm grateful. He's VERY thorough & from what Andrea at his office says.. "stalks" his patience afterwards with constant phones calls.. I'm ready for that...very different than what I have had with after care.
Please keep Jess D in your thoughts & prayers everyone.. she's having her revision this week.. & I need to check in with her to see how she's doing.
Jess if you're out there.. give me a holler.. I'll try to call you before you go in.
Hugs everyone,
Mickey
