Hey Lauren, I have been losing alot of my hair too. The doctor told me its a side effect from the surgery. It means more protein should be taken in our diets. I don't know anything about the black marks, my rings are not doing that to me, you should ask the doctor about that. Hope all is well with you and your family. Take care and hope to see you at the picnic in July. Hugs KimC

Lauren, Sterling Silver rings (and earrings) leave black on my fingers and ears and I have not had surgery yet. It is just your body chemistry and the metal that is on your finger. If it didn't happen before surgery, it make be your body chemistry has changed since surgery. Nancy K

Hey Lauren, I dont know if this helps but after reading your posts I realized that the black spots on my body was bruises. I do have an iron problem and it is my fault because I have been slacking on my pills. People with low iron levels generally bruise easily. It may be that or it just may be a mark your rings are leaving. Hope this helps but thanks for your help because I never thought mine were bruises. Toya

Hi Lauren, It is common for our hair loosing since we had this surgery after 4 months. For me I am taking Biotin 1500 mcg daily, keep drink nectar protein drink between meal and eat mostly meats and no carbs for me. My hair are growing back now. Dr Aranow ordered me to take chromagen forte (iron pill) twice a day because of my low iron showed up from my blood work but I do not have any black bruise on my body so far.... Hugs Kathy K

Lauren- It's the acidity in your skin reacting with the non-pure metals in your ring... all rings, silver or gold have other metals in them and they just react with your chemistry and create that black mark. Nothing you can do about it that I know of. Some women find it worse around 'that time' than others. I know I aways did. Your hairloss will have to run it's course. Honestly, there is not much you can do. Try taking some extra folic acid in suplement and it may help with regrowth (it will also help give you nice nails!) Some peole find that when the ahirloss gets bad, a good haircut helps. You can spend lots of $$ on biotin, and hair products, but they won't stop it. Proper nutrition, supplements and time are the only cure. Hang in there. I don't know a single person who actually went bald! hugs, Lisa C
