Hi everyone, I was wondering if any of you had trouble picking up your children after your surgeries? I have an 18 month old who is sleeping on my shoulder right now, and Im thinking to myself, "will I be able to hold her after my surgery?" Thanks for your help!!!! Bethany

Hi Bethany! My son was 13 months old when I had the surgery (he's a big guy too!). I was able to pick him up after a few days. It was hard to do the diaper changes though, because he's a kicker, and he'd kick me right in my incision. So, I had to change him from the side. Made for some interesting diaper changes, but we all survived!! Good luck!! Tammy 272/184

Hi Bethany, I don't have kids, so I didn't ask that question specificly, but in my pre-opp paperwork and stuff I was told nothing over 10lbs for one month. That included kids and pets. I would check with your own Dr though for his rules afterwards Hugs Heather

Hello Bethany, I had lap band surgery and I was not able to hold my son for about 4 weeks afterwards. It's pretty tough but you absolutely have to listen to the doctor when they tell you not to pick certain things up. They usually give you a weight limit of what you can and can't lift. I know it will be tough but it will only be a couple of weeks and you will all get through it. Good luck. Patty
