Hello, I was wondering if anyone has the same insurance as me? I live here in CT but have Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, of Oregon. If so did anyone have problems getting this surgery approved? Thanks! Melissa

I had had Blue Cross of Northeast Pa when I moved here to CT. They paid for all the testing and everything. Then when it started to get close to approving my surgery, they kept coming up with more test and things that I had to do and rings to jump through. In the end they jerked me around long enough that my COBRA ran out and then I had to start over basically with CT SAGA. I had to take SAGA since when I was shopping for insurance, no one would cover me since I had diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, mitral valve prolapse, arthritis, etc etc. I had places actually hang up on me. BC?CS Anthem included. The only places that would take high risk cost $ 677 a month. No way in this world that I could afford that. SO I took SAGA, they have been fantastic!!! No questions, no big things to do and approval in 1 week. My advice is try to get it done ASAP with your insurnce company now. But don't let them jerk you around so long that they get out of pay for it. Start shopping soon if you're on a COBRA plan. It could be very hard to find new insurance and many are no longer going to be covering it. Just my thoughts. I know I can't prove that BC/BS delayed my surgery but here I am and my surgery just got done, I started the process 2 years ago. Hope your journey goes more smoothly than mine did! Take good care!
