Catching up & Feeling LIGHTER!

Hi Everyone, Well I haven't thrown up since Monday (Thank God!) I'm finding I have a really bad time with the "queasies" first thing in the morning & it eventually goes away by mid-morning. Has anyone else gone through this & why it happens? I need to follow up on Monday with the specialist's office to see if they feel I need to have my new stomache looked into for a stricture, they wanted to give it the weekend. I'm finding I'm still struggling with "fuzzy tongue syndrom". I'm not sure if it's thrush or if it's from the protein drinks/Whey. I finished all the "swish & swallow" and it's still there. Has anyone else experienced this? I joined CURVES in Ellington & had my first work out on Friday. Overall I did pretty well & didn't pass out! I did sweat like crazy though & can't utilize 3 of the machines yet due to recovering/lifting after surgery. I had to step on the scale & get measurements taken and I have lost a total of 40 pounds!!!!!! Totally amazing! 30 pounds since my surgery on 4/26! WHOOT WHOOT! I never would have thought I would have lost that much weight in under a month! I still have "off" days where I get tired pretty quickly, and other days where I could run a marathon. My hubby & I are having a little struggle with going out to eat. For me it's a BIG waste of $$$$ as I only eat a few bites of fish or chicken and that's it. Mark stops eating when I'm done & I know he's still hungry & wants to "snarf" the rest of his food. I tell him to eat but he's self conscious for me. Until I can eat a little more than the 1 oz..I think we should put dining out on the back burner. Head hunger occasionally plaques me...& I now recognize it for what it is. I'm getting REALLY sick of protein drinks...if anyone has other ideas as to how to get the protein in I'd be grateful. I came across a great little treat at Shaws Nestle's sugar free double chocolate fudgesicles. 1 fat gram, 11 carbs. Not too bad & they're really chocolatey if anyone has a sweet tooth like I do. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Mickey

Congratulations on your weight loss. You and I had the surgery on the same date. I did not have the "queasies" in the morning but I do find that if I drink too fast or eat too much I get a sinking feeling in my pouch and feel just drained for hours. I have learned to drink much slower and to really watch the amount I eat, only 1 to 1.5 oz at a time. A lot depends on the food that I eat. As far as the fuzzy tongue. I had that feeling the first two weeks. I increased the water. I don't take any protein until I have drank a 16.9 oz bottle of water in the morning. That helped me a lot. I also split the protein shake in half (I use atkins). 2 shakes a day but I spit it into 4 containers. I find that doing this decrease the amount to protein at one time and then I drink water later. I only get a dry tongue when I know I haven't drank enough water...and believe me, it's hard to shake that dry tongue once you get it. So I focus on keeping the water coming. I started eating the Atkins Carb Countdown yogurt each morning and this has also made a difference. It has 12 grams of protein per container. I have also lost 30 lbs since the surgery. What a wonderful feeling!

I just wanted to comment on eating out. I usually share a meal with someone, or if there is a group, I get a bite or two from everyone and I am blissfully happy. If there is a group, I order an appetizer, that way I am also "sharing". With my family, I can usually share a meal. At say Outback, my daughter orders a 14 oz. steak with potato (her way), gets a salad. I ask for an extra plate, I take about 1/4 of the steak, I eat the tomatoes and cukes off the salad, she eats all the rest. If I am still hungry, I have a bite or two of the others meals. If it's not enough for the person sharing, they can order an appetizer, or you can, to supplement. Your dh will get over the feeling guilty thing soon I should think. Pam

Eating out is still a challenge 2.5 yrs out. In the begining my boyfriend would stop eating when I did but that ended quickly when he realized that A. he was still hungry and B. that it didn't bother me to see him eat...still doesn't. Picking the place to eat is usually more difficult because nothing EVER sounds good. Usually, I let him pick the place. I figure there is ALWAYS be something on the menu that I can eat, be it salad, soup or yummy steak. Jessica
