anyone have hypothroidism

I recently found out I have hypothroidism. Dr'A's office called me with the blood test results. We are in Florida for the winter,so I have an appt on 12/8 with my Dr. here. She needs to put me on medication. Anyone here have it? I haven't been able to lose much weight recently and am now wondering if this is why.

This is the low one right? I have it and PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and that is two reasons I was a big girl. I am on meds for it and just got it increased from 200 mcg to 300. I am not absorbing it like I should and it's gotten really sluggi****'s just a part of life for me since I was lucky (???) to be born into a family where all the women have some type of thyroid problems.

Yes, underactive. I will see what the Dr. says and what meds she will give me. What are you on?

I am on Synthroid. I tried a generic when I first started but I was getting sick from it so I had to be on namebrand. It's better for me since I don't get the stomach ache from it.

I went today. She put me on Synthroid-25mg. The real stuff, no generic. Even though I have been watching what I eat and riding my bike several times a week, my weight stayed the same! I was really dissapointed! Dh and I even skipped a party Sat. because I knew I would be weighing in today. The DR. didn't even say anything. I need to see her for 6months because of my insurance.
Hopefully I will start losing. Did these meds help you lose?

I think I did lose a little at first but then I gained tons. There were other factors involved in the reason why I gained. Look on the bright side, at least you didn't gain. I always had to remind myself of that if I stayed the same.
