Lapband vs RNY
It was easy for me to decide since my Dr. only did the band and RNY. I knew I would eat my way through the band. I also was a BMI of 60 plus and I knew if the weight didn't come off fast I would get frustrated and give up. I also hate needles and the thought of going in and having fills was NOT my idea of a good time. I wanted to dump so I wouldn't eat the sweets. It does keep me good but I can have some sugar so it's a nice compromise. I would do my research on what types of surgery is out there or what types the Dr. you are going to does and go from there. Good luck in your decision.

Assess what brought you to current obesity issue-- was it gradual weight-gain over the years, emotional eating that has ebbed and flowed over your life, or some other cause. In other words, do you need an impediment to grazing, poor food choices, binging, or some combination of those unhealthy eating behaviors? Then determine what side effects you are willing to tolerate and the extent to which you can be compliant with a program (remembering that all of the bariatric surgeries have built-in disincentives to discourage over-eating).
Of course, I would also examine the DS before limiting your choices to RNY (which worked well for me) and a band.
