Over dueing Fluids?

Hi Everyone, I'm two weeks post-op...& I'm concerned on my fluids. I'm finding I can drink/sip quite a bit at a time...I can tell when my new tummy feels "full" and stop for 5-10 minutes to let the fluids settle...then start sipping again. I'm VERY afraid that I'll stretch my tummy with the fluid. I think honestly I can get in more than an ounce each time. I started phase 1 this week with soft foods...I'm finding I'm lucky if I eat 1 oz of food once a day let alone 3 times...& prefer to drink fluids more than anything. Example B-Protein Shake 52 grams protein Started at around 6:30 this morning & finished around 9:00-9:30 Sipped Crystal Light Iced tea through out morning & during my walk & errands. L- 1 oz low fat cottage cheese w/Chives around 12:00 Continued sipping Crystal Light through afternoon. Forced myself to stop around 3:00 to allow my stomach to settle. Dinner I'll try another 1 oz of soft food and start drinking again sometype of protein to get the balance that I need in. I'm finding I"m VERY thirsty and can keep drinking. I'm not diabetic at all, (thank GOD) I also decided to start taking an Iron tablet today to see if it'll help with the light headedness. I was timing myself with my little "chicken timer" for 15 minute stretches..however it's monotonous..& I'm trying to go by how my stomach feels than by minutes. I'm SOOO scared that I'm overdueing the fluid & stretching my pouch...where I'm not chugging it down..I can DEFINATELY sip more than I think is expected... HELP??? Mickey

Michelle, You can't over-do fluids. If you are thirsty, then drink. Everything that you are doing is fine, except that I wouldn't let the protein drink sit for that long. You can't absorb more than 30 grams at any given time so making it for 52 grams is just wasting protein. Make it and try to get it down with in a 1/2 hr. Plus after about 1/2 hr bactria starts to grow so you don't want to be drinking that!! If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me or to call me at the office. Jessica
