Any Lapbanders approved with Anthem?

I am currently awaiting an appeal from CT Blue Cross/Shield/Anthem. How successful were you in getting the lapband approved? Thanks! Amy

HELLO AMY, I HAVE ANTHEM ALSO. I AM HAVING GASTRIC, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE INSURANCE CO THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A LAPBAND. THEY DENIED IT. I HAVE A COPY OF THE POLICY AND IT SAYS THAT IT DOES NOT APPROVE LAPBAND BECAUSE IT IS INVESTIGATIONAL, BUT I HAVE SEEN POSTS ON THIS BOARD OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN APPROVED ON APPEALS. I THINK IT DEPENDS ON THE CONTRACT THAT YOUR EMPLOYER HAS. I DO NOT KNOW TO MUCH ABOUT THIS. GOOD LUCK AND DON'T LET THE INSURANCE ASSUE GET YOU TO DOWN. BLESSINGS, SPLENDALICIOUS

Amy- I got approved for a lapband after my first appeal letter last month. I got denied, typed and sent an appeal the next day, and three days later found out I was approved. My husband's employer is the State of Ct. I don't know if it is a different policy than yours. There was no exclusion for WLS, just medically necessary. I had my surgery monday 5/2.
