1 week out post op
Hi Everyone,
I'm struggling with being light headed and get extremely tired easily since the surgery. Did anyone else go through this & is it normal? I see Dr. B on Friday so hopefully he can give me some direction.
I'm pretty much getting my protein drinks in around 65-70 a day I've been taking short walks (about a mile & a little slow) and drinking fluids & having sugar free icepops & some chicken broth.
I'm finding I'm taking at least a two hour nap daily. I have to force myself to get up or I'd sleep the day away. My husband has been terrific, he's been "nurse markey" all week making sure I have everything I need & is being so supportive. Although he is having MAJOR sympathy hunger for me...he's constantly hungry & today he commented how much our lives revolved around food...LOL...
I'm very thankful I have you all to share my concerns & hopes with. My fever finally is gone...& each day I feel more like myself.
Thanks bunches,
Mickey

Hello Michelle,
Let me say congratulations on your new life change. I'm 13 months post op and feel wonderful. I'm not a doctor and he/she should be the one to get in touch with about your concerns. But your only one week out so please remember you have had major surgery and part of that is you will feel tired. Its going to take your body a while to get back to normal. I remember taking naps daily for a couple of weeks and then when i went back to work I worked 1/2 days. I would come home and take a short nap. That lasted until I went back to work a couple weeks later at full time. Even then I'd come home at night after working 8 or more hours and sit while watching the news & drinking my dinner. that little rest was nice before the walking! I've always enjoyed a good nap I think that Businesses should have a small siesta daily! Keep us posted on how well you do, good luck and god bless, pam
Hey there,
Being tired is perfectly normal!!! Remember a bunch of things... you had MAJOR surgery so your body is trying to recover from that. You are not eating so your body is weak from that and what it does have is going into the healing process. I am 5 months post op and feel fantastic! Your energy will increase just give it time... do not worry that you need naps.... they were my best friend right after as well..
You are doing fantastic with the protein so keep that up!!!
Best of Luck!
Carrie
Michelle,
Its all very normal. I think that I finally got my energy back about 2.5/3 months post op and then I had so much energy, I didn't know what to do with myself!!
I actually found myself sanding and painting my bedroom walls at 3 in the am!!
Take care and we will see you in the office on Friday!
Jessica
