Hi Everyone, I came across a protein drink that has 42 grams of protein in it. The label shows 2 grams of sugar for the package however shows Sucralose in the ingredients...no sugar in the ingredients. Will this cause "dumping sydrome"?? I REALLY liked this brand of shake it was Cappacciono, Chocolate Mint, and Vanilla. I'm trying the Pina Colada one tomorrow. I'd hate to go out & buy packets of this if it will hurt me...does anyone have suggestions..or experience with grams of sugar in protein mixes? My count down to the 26th is beginning! I can't wait to start my new life! Thanks bunches everyone, Mickey

Hi Mickey My advice is do not buy alot of your favorite protein drink because your taste changed after this surgery. Kathy K

Thanks for the reminder Kathy, I had forgotten that the taste changes after surgery. I'll stick with just a few packets for when I get home & go from there. Mickey

Mickey Not sure about your sugar question..but I need to respond about 42 grams of protein. Your body cannot process more than 30 grams at a time.so anything over that is a waste...from what I have read. Congratulations as you make your way to your "new life". My best to you Joanie

Thanks Joanie, I'm glad we have this support site as I'm learning more & more daily. I think the 2 grams of sugar shouldn't affect me (crossing my fingers) & I think it'll be trial & error after I get home... UGH... Mickey

Mickey, Besides everything else people told you, remember, some of us don't dump on anything. Like me for instance. I can eat anything I want, I don't dump. Pam

The best tasting protein drink that I have found is Myoplex--they even have two low carb versions that are absolutely the best.

That's the name of the brand I'm trying out right now...It is VERY good. Did you have any problems with the "sugar content" Stu? I'm still thinking 2 grams isn't much, and again it's Sucralose?? Thanks bunches, Mickey

Hi Mickey, Its important to remember everyone is different. In the beginning 2 gms of sugar would be enough to make me dump to the point I thought I was going to die. In fact, until I was 6 monts out I could not tolerate ANY sugar, including natural sugars found in fruit!! But some people never dump. You'll never know until you try. And what is ok Tuesday might make you sick Thursday, or vice versa. I now get sick on many sugar substitutes. Malitol? You know, the stuff that produces "anal leakage' in WOW Potato chips? Well, lets just say I need to avoid it like the plague. Good luck to you! -Deb

Stick to the two low carb versions---plenty of choice in flavors----be careful of the caffein content of the capuccino and the cafe carmel--caffein can be an appetite stimulent...the low carb provides plenty of protein and minimal carbs---I never had any problem with dumping due to the carb content
