HI, MY SURGERY IS 19 DAYS AWAY. MY PREOP IS SCHEDULED. I HAVE DONE ALL THAT WAS REQUIRED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SEND ME A LETTER REQUESTING SOME BASIC PAPERWORK THAT I KNOW THEY ALREADY RECIEVED IN ORDER TO FINISH THE REVIEW. SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? I FEEL LIKE IF I ALLOW MYSELF TO PREPARE FOR THE SURGERY, THAT I WILL SOMEHOW JINX IT. IT DOS'NT FEEL REAL. I HAVE NO REAL PLANS. THIS IS NOT LIKE ME. I USUALLY WOULD OF HAD AN AIR TIGHT PLAN BY NOW, WITH PLAN B AND C (JUST IN CASE) . MAJOR EVENTS IN MY HOUSE ARE CARRIED OUT WITH MILITARY PRECISION. HERE I AM THREE WEEKS TO GO AND I DO NOT EVEN HAVE A BOTTLE OF VITAMINS. ANYONE BEEN FELT THIS WAY? IS THIS NORMAL OR HAVE I FINALLY LOST MY LAST MARBLE? BLESSINGS SPLENDALICIOUS :

Hi Splenda, I know how you feel. I felt the same way. In the back of my mind, I would not believe I was going to have the surgery 100% until it was over. I worried about what if my surgeon got sick and postponed it. My biggest fear was that the insurance would change it's mind and find an excuse to come back and deny it. I did, however, get the things I needed for early recovery. You need to do that too. Get your vitamins, stock up on chicken broth, protein shakes, etc...Just take the steps you need to take, and your mind will catch up later... You are definitely not alone. The months of waiting before surgery made me absolutely crazy and was worse than any pain from the surgery. In fact, the little bit of pain was the easy part because the wait was over! Hang in there, it will be all over soon and you'll be on your way!! Anne

I wouldn't go too nuts. I made the mistake of buying too much of everything, and now have enough protein shakes and shake mix around for another couple of surgeries. After my two-month appointment, the nutritionist told me I could start weaning myself of the shakes because I was getting enough protein. By the end of the third month, I had pretty much stopped the shakes. I did buy some EAS protein bars, but they're wrapped in foil and stay fresh. I have one once in a while in place of a meal. Good luck! --Steve

Hi Splenda.... Oh MY 19 days away & It'll be here before we know it! I'm going through some of your same thoughts and emotions. I feel like I've taken a step back a little due to being denied by the insurance company. This week I've finally started getting back on track with things I need to get going on. I'm trying different shakes for breakfast...getting in a routine of taking vitamins.....I still need to get the other Vitamins that are the correct ones for surgery. I think it's just taken such a long time to get prepared for the surgery that it's "surreal" that it's almost here. I'm alot like you I usually have 2-3 back up plans in place "just in case" and for the first time in a very long time...I don't....I don't think you've lost your marbles at all....Maybe it's just a small phase before the big day? I feel like I've fallen off my rocker as of late...so I'm in the same club as you! PS I did accomplish one thing...I bought a new nightgown for the hospital...pink & black with "betty boop" on the front...I'll be walking the halls in style...along with my eyeore slippers. Mickey
