Hi All, I was in lots of pain on Tuesday since noon at 8pm, I called my Angel Linda and she told me I should call Dr. Duffy. I called Dr. Duffy and he said I should go to the emergency room - that it could be one of three things. I had blood work done, urine sample and x-ray. They ruled out two out of three, so they said that it must be that I was getting a ulcer. They left me overnite on IV and was released yesterday afternoon. Have to take some medicines and have to go back to see him next Tuesday. I still have the pain but its mild. Hopefully it will go away soon. Don't like the pain. Until next time. Magaly

Oh Magaly I am so sorry to hear about this. I have always worried about getting an ulcer after surgery. It is like the one thing I always think about. I am glad the pain is not as bad. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery! Kelly

Didn't your Dr. put you on an drug to help prevent an ulcer. My Dr. prescribed Aciphex and I need to take that for about 6 months after surgery. I'm not sure if all Dr's do this or not. I'm curious so let me know. Thanks, Kelly

Been there, done that. At least you had pain, I had no warning until I got up one morning and passed out on the bathroom floor the from loss of blood caused by the ulcer (I was three months post-op). I took Prevacid for 30 days, which is essentially the same as Aciphex. The last endoscopy showed the ulcer gone, but I'm staying on Prevacid for several months. I also had a test for H.pylori to see if I had the bacteria that would cause the ulcer to return. I didn't get those results back yet, but that's easily taken care of with a round of antibiotics, amoxycillin, tetracycline, or similar. Watch for blood in the stool or urine, a sure sign of an ulcer. If you see red or dark red blood, head for the nearest hospital. --Steve

Magaly I am so sorry to hear about your ulcer. Take it easy and do what the doctor tells you. This, is an unfortunate complication of this surgery...I hope its just a small bump in the road for you..and not a big one. Keep us posted. Hugs Joanie
