Thanks for the idea Joanie.
Although, I really am a firm believer that SF soda is a nasty culprit in a plateau, as well as many SF items and "fake" sugars. Just my thinking though. I found this to be true even before I had surgery.
Water definitely helps. I've been doing lots of it to lose some poundage.
Let us know how it goes with you
I'm going to try this tomorrow.
Take care,
Michelle

Hi Joanie,
Thanks for the info! I am going to start this today as I still have not budged an ounce for two weeks now.( I know it is not as bad as your plateau, but I am starting to get aggravated now!) I hope this works. I will not get weighed for the full 10 days and I will report back as to how it worked for me.

When I spoke to Dr Bell about this plateau thing he also said to change your exercise routine too. He said, mix it up, or add more, or increase how strenuous it is, but change it somehow. And that this will help to push you back over the edge. I hit plateaus constantly. I will be on one for 2 weeks, and then boom loose 10 pounds and then boom, back on another plateau. I am convinced that all obese people, and people who are predisposed to being obese like us are so insulin resistant that it is just plain difficult for us to loose weight. Even with having a stomach the size of a golf ball. Even with as little food that we eat. Its still like pulling teeth for the weight to come off. At least thats what I have noticed since I have had my surgery. I am doing EVERYTHING right, and it wont budge. It can be frustrating, but I have let myself off the hook where I was concerned thinking that it was my fault. Like I said, I think our bodies actually fight us. I remember reading someplace that obese people have it twice as hard as regular people, and we have to work twice as hard to get it off and keep it off because we just are not wired the same physically. Seeing how I have been living and what I have been doing to get my weight off, still in MY honeymoon phase and it wont come off convinces me that this is all true.
Keep on movin, eventually the metabolism HAS to kick in. It cant lay dormant forever.
Lauren,
I do agree with you wholeheartedly. I have been on another plateau for three weeks again. I do the same exact thing as you, lose a few pounds, then back to plateau. I do everything right.
I have gotten some really great advice from another web site, from some old timers who have maintained for a few years. I am currently looking at my food intake, yet again, and taking out all refined carbs. Absolutely no bread, potatoes, or sugar, very few sugar alcohols, and boosting protein. I am now looking at the fat content also. Not even eating nuts now.
I am not sure that there is anything left! Just low-fat meats, low-fat cheeses and a few veggies (but not for 10 days if I do this plateau buster).
We'll see!
Pam
