HELP-Advice Needed
Hello Everyone,
I need your
. All of a sudden my appetite has increase about 10 fold
. Until this weekend I would get hungry maybe two times a day between 7-9AM then at 5-7 PM. Now my appetite, willingness and ability to eat are off the hook
. I am finally able to get all of my fluids in, which is a plus
.
I guess I am wondering if any of you have experienced such a sudden increase in appetite or ability to eat more? Also should I be worried about the amounts that I can now eat
. My morning meals are very small (like they should be). I can only eat an egg or a ½ yogurt, but always something small. In the afternoon they are a little larger, few nuggets or a half a chicken breast something along those lines. Dinner on the other hand I can almost eat a regular meal
. Roughly 10-12oz. if I take my time. That really worries me
.
Please give me some insight if you have experienced this, with some suggestions to stay on track.

Hi, Frenchy!
I think most of us (at least the post-ops I talk to) go through phases where you feel like you can eat a horse, saddle and all, and phases where you feel like you can't get down a sip of water.
I, sadly, can't find any rhyme or reason to how and why they happen, just that they do. I just try to hang on and ride 'em out.

Don't fret...Bette is right..some days you feel like you are eating too much and other times...you can't fit anything in! You have done so well in such a short time... My advice...keep exercising..stay away from CARBS...and eat protein..when you are hungry... Your body is adjusting to such a quick weight loss...I am sure of it! Hang in there...

Hi Frenchy-
I agree, -we all go through phases where we can eat more than other times...
But, I'd like to throw in my few thoughts for you. First off, NOW is the time to start tracking your calories on fitday.com, if you're not doing it. It's very important to know exactly how much you're eating calorie and volume wise.
Second- what do your dietary guidelines say you should be taking in for meal size? And, in how long a time frame? Please check back with your Dr. and Nut. on this, if it's unclear.
In my experience- here's some important stuff:
Be sure to carefully follow the TIME guidelines- they can be the downfall. You don''t always have to eat until you're full. You can eat the apropriate amount and walk away from your plate, or only dish out the apropriate portion. If I sit long enough- I can eat a heck of a lot more than I should. This is an issue for many a post-op and they don't realize it right away. Especially if they're eating a meal with a 'normal' person. You should not be eating leisurely meals.
Look at the patterns of your life. Are you eating more at night for a psychological reason or out of old habit? It's possible that may be something to address. I know my old habits were always skip or have a very tiny breakfast and then gradually eat more thorughout each meal of the day... this was a very very unhealthy pattern for my body- and it's one that I can EASILY fall back into to this day- it's my old MO behavior coming back to haunt me0 and I'll fight it to the day I die, I'm sure.
Just some 'food for thought' (LOL!) and JMHO- but I hope it helps a little. Good luck to you!
best,
Lisa C
