My husband is switching to Travelers....he will have United Healthcare insurance as one of his choices. Since we don't have access to the actual booklet yet, does anyone know anyone who has had Lapband surgery with this insurance? I guess I'm asking if you know of any exclusions....Any help is appreciated!

Amy, I have United Heathcare and I have to call them today. Do you know the procedure number for lapband - I can ask them for you. I know each policy is different, I have United HealthCare Choice Plus, I am not sure what plan you are looking at from Travelers. If you provide the code, I will ask the generic question and find out if some policies cover it and others don't or they just don't straight across the board. Nancy K

It is up to the company, not the insurance company which exclusions they choose. I have been in a battle for about seven months with UHC because of this. They will tell you that they cover it, because they do, but it all depends on which exclusions your company chooses. You can try to get that info from UHC, but your best bet would be to ask HR at Travelers. He should be given the opportunity to view all the booklets and materials before he makes his decision. Good Luck. Phyllis

Amy Its all up to the employers to carry the special riders..its not a blanket thing. Ask the new employer for the ins phone number...it should be an easy thing for them to confirm. Joanie
