Passing out: Take 2
Any chance you could be dehydrated? I had surgery Oct 13th and was doing really well with protein drinks and fluids. I was taking in 55-60 oz of fluids a day no problem. Well on Tuesday my blood sugars dropped to 65. I didn't know what to do so I took a glucose tab. Ten minutes later the dumping began or at least I think that's what it was. I had the worst diarrhea of my life. I began to feel lightheaded everytime I got up and especially in the shower. I called my pcp yesterday to talk about adjusting my diabetes meds. She wanted me to come in. I had such a hard time getting ready. After every little task, I had to lie down because I felt like passing out. When I got to the doctors office, the nurse was not able to get a bp reading. My doctor tried and it took a few trys. Finally she got a reading of 70/40. She said that was critical and that I was dehydrated and rushed me to the ER. They pumped me with fluids and I felt much better. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon. I understand how miserable the feeling is.
The hospital didn't seem to think so and neither did the PCP when I saw him on Tuesday. The PA on the other hand grabs onto something like a bone and wont let go. He is convinced I am dehydrated but then when I was anemic he told me I was depressed. I don't put much stock in what he thinks. Most of the info he has told me has been wrong.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Unfortunately there are so many reasons for becoming lightheaded and fainting. When I went to the hospital, they did blood work. It only showed that I was slightly dehydrated. The problem was that when I got up my blood pressure went so low. When I was at my doctor's office, she could tell that I was dehydrated by looking at my tongue. Whatever it is, it needs to be taken care of obviously. Good luck.
