I am scheduled for surgery at St. Francis in Hartford. My sister wants to stay with me at night to make sure I'm OK. Did anyone have a friend/family member stay with them? I would appreciate hearing any pros and cons to this as well.

My hubby could stay as long as he wanted, even overnight, but that was at Middlesex Hospital, you may want to call St. Francis and ask!

In my experiences, it depends on the hospital and whether you have a private or semi-private room. You might want to call patient relations at St. Francis and ask what their policy is about having visitors overnight. I know if at all possible, it usually isn't a problem.

Hi Christine,
I just went through the pre-op class at St. Francis and they said that you can have a relative stay overnight. They will ask you the day of the class to make arrangements!!
