Yesterday I donated blood and afterwards I felt fine. Today though, I've gotten woozy a couple a times when I was out shopping. Has anybody heard that maybe we shouldn't be giving blood? Silly me didn't ask my DR....if I should or shouldn't. Thanks, Kelly

I did read on one website that after you have wls you shouldn't give blood. I'm not exactly sure how long you have to wait but maybe you should check with your doctor next time. I'm sure you will be fine after a couple of days when your blood supply gets built back up. Just keep with your vitamins because I'm sure the iron will help a lot. Good luck. Patty

Hi Kelly - Prior to WLS I was a regular blood donor. But I did ask the Dr's and was told that my blood donating days were over. They recommended not donating blood because it's too easy for us to get anemic even with all the vitamin supplementation. Drink lots of fluids and get in some extra protein and the wooziness should go away. Hugs, Carla

I've tried to donate a couple of times post-op, but both times I was too anemic, by ARC standards, to donate.
