It's almost here!!!

In five days I will finally be having surgery...RNY.  I can't believe it is almost here.  I have been doing the liquid diet for 1 1/2 weeks now and doing very well.  It probably helped that I haven't been feeling that great.  I have been sick with a double ear infection and upper respiratory infection.  That's getting better.  I just hope that I stop coughing before surgery.  I can only imagine what the pain will be like to cough after surgery.  I don't want to go there.

I saw my surgeon yesterday to go over any last questions before surgery.  I also lost 12 pounds since being on the liquid diet.  I was pleased with that.  I was told that they had decided that I will be having a greenfiled filter put in.  With my past history of pulmonary emboli, it made sense.  Although I am scared to death.  I think everything is finally coming to fruition and reality is setting in.  So tomorrow I will go to the hospital and have my pre-op work done and then on Friday I will go to St. Francis to have the greenfield filter

You are probably having surgery lap so it shouldn't be as bad as if you had it open. I know after open it's rough to cough but doable as long as you have a pillow to hold. Try that trick when you have to cough. Put a pillow on your belly and hold it. Good luck with everything.

I hope that your URI clears before surgery, that might be a indication to postpone your surgery since having an URI and general anesthesia can cause complications postop. Be sure to convey to your physician what is going on so that doesn't happen.

Wishing you all the best.
