anesthesia questions
I would like to know the experiences of those who had anethesia. This is one of my concerns. I guess for me it is the fear of the unknown and it is sort of freaking me out. Some poeople come out of it fine and others have a real tough time, including vomiting. I would just like you hear your experiences so I can get a better understanding as to what to expect.
Thanks,
Phyllis

Hi Phyllis,
From my experience with anethesia, I was very sleepy after I woke up but did not feel going vomiting but I went back to sleep for couple of hours then I was wide wake in recover room. When they prepare to put you sleep, it happens so fast and you can not remember you fall asleep right away. A person who puts me sleep said to me Dream to lay down on the beach with nice bath suit then I woke up at recover room . Just make sure you ask that person who puts you sleep , ask him how long experience he have and what he will do with you etc... and He might to give you something to make you more relaxed because of your fear for anethesia.
Hugs

Hi Phyllis,
I think everyone is concerned about anesthesia, but it is very safe. It is actually kind of cool because, 1 minute you are talking and the next minute you are all done. They will usually give you a relaxer when you are in the holding area. I have never vomited after anesthesia just felt very sleepy, which is great because the more you are able to sleep the less pain there is. Don't freak out too much right now you have waited a long time for this and everything will be just fine.
Love,
Sandy
Phyllis,
Anesthesia is not that bad in my opinion anyway. You can experience vomiting and some people do have a very rough time with it. Go in with a positive attitude. The ladies at my job laugh at me because i loved it. It is the best sleep ya get !!! The doctors that do it are very experienced and it is their job to keep a 100% eye on you while you are "under" and believe me, they do.
Good luck and dont worry you are in gods hands and will be fine !!!

Hi Phyllis!
I was a bit scared about the anestesia too. I've had experiences in the past (but a LONG time ago) where it has made me nauseous. But, this time I had no troubles.
I told the anestesiologist about my past, and he said not to worry, he'd take good care of me. So, I tried not to, and he was right. Everything was fine.
In the OR, I was out like a light in seconds flat, without even knowing it. I woke up in recovery, confused, and feeling like someone parked an elephant on my chest, but once I woke and the nurses tended to me, everything was fine. I slept for quite a while.
Really, you'll be just fine. I know it's a troubling thing, because it's soething you have no control over and no experience wiht- so it;s naturla to have it weigh on your mind. But, try not to let it bother you too much. By far, the majority of experiences are positive and uneventful.
best,

Hi Phyllis,
Lets put it this way...I HATE being put under. When I wake up I'm cold, in pain, and I panic. I've been operated 4 times in my life and every one has been the same. But I'm in the minority, I know what to expect, and I warn the anestologist so he can tell the staff in Recovery that I'm not pleasant upon 'wake up'.
But I have two plastic surgeries coming up, so while I'm dreading it, it's still not enough for me to cancel the surgeries.
I agree with Kathy, if you're nervous while waiting for surgery, ask your Doc to give you a little something to take the edge off.
I'm still so happy that you have a date!!
