Hi everyone I am on number 10 day post op and boy has it been quite the week. I learned I wasn't taking enough paxil and too much tums. I finally got that undercontroll. I feel very down and I am very hungry... At least I think I am... Everything that everyone I want to eat it and get upset when they eat it. It smells so good. I have been cooking ontop of this and that is hard too. I am still on the all liquid diet and I think it sucks.... LOL I can't wait to be able to eat a little bit more. boy is this thing mind over matter and my mind is trying to overcome me. :O( I don't know what to do. I'm eating what I'm suppose too but I am still hungry. Is anyone else feeling this way. Is anyone else irritable and snapping at every little thing ? Or is this me. Are we suppose to sleep on our backs or can we sleep on our sides? Tara K

Hi Tara, Sorry you are having a rough week. I "mourned" food in the beginning too. Just try to remember why you had the surgery, and that this is temporary. You will be eating food as soon as you are healed enough on the inside. As far as side sleeping, I couldn't do it for weeks, maybe longer. I slept in a recliner for 2 weeks before even attempting the bed. I am a stomach sleeper, and I could do that before side sleeping. This too shall pass! Just hang in there. Anne

I hope you feel better soon! If you can stand to sleep on your sides..you can do it. I have never been a back sleeper..always a side sleeper..who rolls back and forth all night...Lap RNY put a stop to THAT...but I could sleep on my right side..for which I was grateful. It took about 3 weeks to be able to sleep on the left side again...but 4 weeks out now and I feel good as new..and so will YOU!!! Better days are coming kiddo! Sher'

Hi Tara, The depression is very normal and so is the hunger, which is probably head hunger. If you can, avoid cooking. When something smells good, try having some broth, it helps a bit. You will be having your two week appointment soon, and then you will be able to have some food. As for sleeping, I was sleeping on my side in a few days, and on my stomach within a week. It is really up to you how you feel. The irritability will go away when you can eat and chew again. Things will get better, Pam

Tara, I am so sorry that you are feeling down this week. I remember hating the liquid stage also, but just try to remember that it is to help you heal until you can eat safely. It is really hard to cook for everyone and watch people eat. Maybe get some easy microwave meals if you have to cook and try to be away from the kitchen while others eat so as not to feel bad. Don't worry, just wait until you see the results on the scale. You will be eating soon and that 1st egg is delicious. Hang in there, terri

Hey Girlfriend! How are you doing? Sorry to hear that you're going through this, but believe me, it's only normal. As far as being hungry all the time, It's probably only head hunger... Be patient! (Look who's talking!) Tried Emailing you and couldn't get through. Are you still not excepting Emails yet? Take care! Hope to hear from you soon! Hang in there girlfriend! Joanne

Hi Tara, First of all congratulations on your surgery! I know exactly what you are feeling. My friend stayed with me when I had my surgery and ate constantly...junk food, candy, italian food...and I, too, thought I was hungry. It was all head hunger. It is very difficult, especially the liquid part...try not to cook, get someone to help with it if you can. Walk, read, go out...get away from the kitchen and the food. The best part is that it will pass and you will start eating again. Good luck and hang in. JA
