How much are you eating?
Hey everyone,
I'm just having a mini panic attack here. I'm really concerned with the amount of food I can eat now. It seems to have changed just over the course of a week or so. I've gone from being full at 1/4 of a cup and having to eat slow or else it hurts, to eating about 1 cup or more of various things, and I don't have to slow down. It's really freaking me out. I swear my old stomach reattached itself. (kidding)
So, I'm almost 9 months out.. how much should I be eating at this point??
I'm considering seeing a nutritionist, I just don't have the time and really need one that knows something about this surgery as well.
How much do you guys eat as far as ounces or cups go??
Thanks ahead of time. I really hope I don't have a normal stomach at this point.
Michelle

Michelle,
I have been thinking the same thing all weekend!!!!!
I have been so busy at work, home, everything that I have not had the time to come on the site. Tonight I made sure that I came on and there was your question!
I am over a year out and I have lost 110 lbs, I can eat (what I think) a lot of food. Then there are days that I can only eat alittle
. I just done't get it!!!
I would love to hear from people that are out the same time as me or even longer. How much do you eat? What is your "normal" food intake?
I also find my self "picking" when I cook dinner.
"old" timers please help!!!!!!
Carmen

Stay calm Michelle. I just went through the same thing. It seemed like I woke up one morning and just felt much hungrier and that I could eat more. I asked Deb how many calories I should be eating and she said around 1200 should be fine. (I track on Fitday.com). I have come accross others that think this is way to much, but Dr Valin's office has done good by me so far, so I'll trust what they say. They're the experts.
I am still losing although much slower. Relax, I'm sure you're fine. I nutritionist is always a great idea to get a custom plan just for you.
Hugs,
Maggie

Hey Michelle,
I'll be 9 months out in 3 days. I know how you feel. It must have something to do with 9 months
Some days I feel like I can't stop eating, and others I can't seem to eat enough!
I don't ever weigh anything(maybe I shouldn't admit that in public
)
I really don't think there is any way possible for your old tummy to reattach itself either. Imagine that!
Good luck, I think it will pass!

It varies for me as well. Some days it's all I can do to eat an ounce or two at a sitting and other times I can eat about 2 cups of food at a time. Like on Valentine's day. I made my dh and myself a porterhouse steak, brussel sprouts and lowfat au gratin potatoes. I knew I was hungry because I could feel it and I only feel hungry about twice a week. Well, I ate almost two cups of the potatoes! They had a lot of simply smart milk and kraft free cheddar so they did have a lot of protein in it so I didn't beat myself up too badly about it. My husband was shocked at how much of it I could eat and I was surprised too. Then today, at lunch I couldn't even eat a whole slice of deli turkey without feeling like I was stuffed to the gills.
I know the further out we are, the pouch starts to stretch and we can fit more in it. This makes it even more critical that we make the right food choices. A visit to the nutritionist may be very beneficial to make sure that you are making the wisest choices.
