Abdominal Ultrasound at St. Francis

Ok, I'm getting a little upset because I was scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow before surgery and I have no idea where to go at Saint Francis, nor has anyone called to tell me what to do or not to do before the ultrasound. Can I eat/drink? I have no idea and have not been able to get ahold of anyone to ask these questions. This whole thing is making me even more nervous about the surgery in general if I can't get an answer to a simple issue like this!! Someone help if you've ever had an ultrasound at St. Francis. Thanks, Delicia

Hi Delicia I cant tell you anything about St. Francis Hospital but I did have an abdominal ultrasound. They just squirt some gel on your tummy and rub a wand around. There was'nt and restrictions on eating or dirinking and the test is totally painless. I'm sure when you get to the hospital they will directly where to go for the test. As pre-operative tests go this was a piece of cake. You will do just fine. Hugs angel

Delicia, if you really want to make sure, call the hospital main number and ask to be connected to radiology. They are open all night and someone should be able to tell you what the prep procedure is. Good luck. Jen

Thanks everyone for responding. I think I'm just panicking and nit picking over little things. Now that I think about it all I have to do is call the hospital tomorrow and find out where I go since my appointment is at 11:00am. I think I'm going to be on an emotional rollercoaster for the next month. Thanks again, Delicia

Delicia- Sorry I wasn't around to help. I sure hope someone told you to fast at least after midnight for the u/s. I am sure when you go in the hospital they will be able to tell you where the Diagnostic Imaging Dept is. Relax its a piec of cake! Joanie

Delicia, I also had my ultrasound at St. Francis. The easiest thing to do is to go in on the 2nd floor and go to the main desk and they will direct you from there. My instructions were nothing to eat or drink after midnight, the night prior to the test. And don't forget you have to go to the pay station prior to leaving instead of paying for parking at the booth. I don't recall whether or not that Radiology/Ultrasound validates. Hope this helps. And you can always call 714-4000 which is the main number to the hospital and ask for Radiology or Ultrasound. Hang in there, NA

Thank you everyone for the responses. I figured it out and the ultrasound went off without a hitch. I just didn't eat or drink after midnight just in case and boy was that not fun seeing as my ultrasound wasn't scheduled until 11:00 am! Thanks again, Delicia

Not eating after midnight is not too bad, it's the thirst, just wait until surgery. Some of us were scheduled for surgery after 1 or 2pm, now that's not fun! I hope your surgery is in the morning! Pam
