I have a question and before you say call the doctor, I did twice and still no call back. The other day I started getting tingling and numbness in my hands and feet so I thought I might be low with my vitiamins or something. I called the surgeon who was not in that day and his nurse told me to go to my pcp to get some bloodwork done. I went to my pcp who ordered a slew of tests but also states it sounds most like my carpal tunnel is acting up again and also I seem to have developed tarpal(sp) tunnel so I need to take anti inflammatory medicine. I told him I could not take advil or Motrin so he gave me a prescription for Prednisone(steroid) for 20 mg for a 4 day supply. I called the surgeon back and his nurse told me not to take it, they would page the doctor and call me back. Well no phone call so I called again today and she said it should be ok to take because it is a low dosage and for a short amount of time but she will ask the doctor and call me back. I still have not received a call. I would just normally wait but my right hand is the one that is bad and everything else has went away except for this pain. My question is has anyone been on the above mention medicine and were there any complications.

Hello, I am an asthmatic who has been on this medication many times, although it can cause complications if used over a very long period of time, there shouldn't be any problem with taking it for a short period. With that being said, you really should wait to find out from your surgeon because it can cause weight gain or at least extreme hunger. I personally will not take this medication because I took it for many years and made me gain weight and made me mad. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and wait to see what your doctor says, as long as it won't interfere with anything you might be taking post-op 4 days won't hurt you. Patty

There are long tern questions, and outright problems using steroid based anit-inflamatory medications. As faar as your pouch goes, the SADS are MUCH better than NSADS. You should NEVER take a NSAD medication unless directly instructed by your surgeon. Peter
